Refreshed Career and Technical Education (CTE) Programs of Study

Refreshed CTE programs of study will be implemented beginning with the 2024-2025 school year. Changes to programs of study are additive and should not negatively impact students who have already started a program of study. Based on recommendations from a cross-sector advisory committee, the Â鶹ÊÓƵ (TEA) released a preliminaryÌýÌýin October 2023. The changes are now final and are reflected inÌýupdated program of study framework documents. Additional resources summarizing changes and supporting implementation of the refreshed programs of study are available on theÌýCTE programs of study website.ÌýÌý

Earned IBCs and Aligned Programs of Study Phase-In for College, Career, and Military Readiness (CCMR)

Updated Cycles for Future Programs of Study and Aligned Industry-Based CertificationsÌýÌý

In order to better align updates to both the programs of study (currently every four years) and the list of approved IBCs (currently every 2 years) with cyclical updates to the public school accountability system, TEA will transition to a five-year cycle for updates to both programs of study and IBCs.ÌýÌý

The current IBC List for Public School Accountability will remain in place through the 2024-25 school year and the next list will be approved for school years 2025-26 through 2028-29. The IBC evaluation process and timeline will be posted in the fall of 2024.Ìý

TEA’s refreshed programs of study will be in place for school years 2024-25 through 2028-29. The IBC list and programs of study will be updated for implementation beginning in the 2029-30 school year. See page 17 in thisÌýPrograms of Study Refresh for 24-25 presentationÌýfor more information.Ìý
