The Student Heroes program recognizes Texas public school students in prekindergarten through high school who do an outstanding volunteer service thatÌýbenefits their fellow students, schools, orÌýtheir communities. One student from each of the 15 State Board of Education (SBOE) districts is recognized for this award.

Nomination Information

To be nominated for this award, the volunteer service project performed by a public or charter schoolÌýstudent must not be associated withÌýany curriculum requirement, a school service project, or community program.Ìý

The nomination period for the 2025 Student Heroes Award is TBD.

The student who earns this award will receive a plaque and a medal from his or her SBOE district member. The award presentation typically occurs at a local school assembly, an organization meeting, or in a classroom. The exact date, time and location of the presentation will be determined by the local school district/campus in coordination with the SBOE member.ÌýUp to 15 students, one from each SBOE member may be recognized.Ìý

Who may nominate?

Nominations may be submitted by anyone – such as school personnel, other students, parents, orÌýcommunity members and nominees must be from public or charter schools.Ìý

What are the steps for nominating?

Completely fill out the Student Heroes . Include all required information, including the nominee's permission to be nominated and have his or her information shared publicly (parent or guardian signature is required for nominees under the age of 18). The nomination form must include an essay submitted by the nominator describing the nominee's outstanding volunteerism and how it benefited others.

NOTE: Incomplete submissions will not be considered. Please preview your submissions before hitting the "Submit" button on the nomination form to make sure all required field is covered. If submitted properly, you should receive an email copy of your submission and a response that states, "Thank You. Your submission has been received."
